Rubaica Jaliwala was born in 1972 in Mumbai, India, and currently lives in Berlin.

From 2011-2020, she worked as programme officer at the ICYE International Office in Berlin, Germany, where she is responsible for programme and financial management, grant and report writing for large-scale multilateral capacity building projects with partners from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission.

She wrote her doctoral thesis (2012) entitled “Political Education in Plural Societies: Using the Anti-Bias to Challenge Oppression in Bombay and Berlin”,  at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kassel. She received her Master degree in “Intercultural Education” from the Freie Universität Berlin.

She was Programme Officer for the Cultural Department of the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai for five years.

She works as a freelance writer, editor and translator for organisations such as the film production company Pong Kröger and Scheffner GbR, among others.

Since 2003, she has worked as trainer/facilitator and educational advisor for interdisciplinary, interactive workshops, combining theory and praxis, on intercultural learning and diversity management, racism, sustainable development, gender and human rights education. She works for various international organisations and has led trainings in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
